“Sunday Morning” honors the generations of little girls who, week after week, sat patiently in the kitchen as loving hands tamed their hair in preparation for church. As a young boy, I recall the kitchen as the place where the ladies and girls got their hair done each weekend. Recall the smell of the hair as the hot straightening comb that was heated by placing it on the stove burner touched the hair, and the sizzling sound when the comb touched the hair. 

This piece is a celebration of tradition, resilience, and the quiet artistry found in daily rituals. Through bold color and expressive form, the painting invites viewers into a familiar scene—one filled with warmth, care, and the unspoken bonds between generations.
